Students work through a mixed set that pulls from the whole unit, then decide for themselves what they still need. The teacher works from the standards mastery view rather than a plan written in advance.

Ten items spanning the unit's standards, deliberately out of order.
Students check the mastery view, pick their weakest standard, and work that set. Teacher reteaches the standard the most students picked.
Each student writes the two things they will review tonight, in their own words.
One problem on the day's standard. Collected at the door and sorted into got it / almost / not yet before the next period.
- · Do not plan this day in advance. Open the standards mastery view and reteach the standard the most students picked.
- · Make the mixed set deliberately out of order. Students who can only work a skill when it is labeled have not mastered it.
- · Read the study plans. Two sentences in a student's own words tell you more than the mixed-set score.
Students work a mixed set from across the unit, check their own mastery view, choose their weakest standard, and write a two-line study plan in their own words.
Exit ticket: Name the one standard you will review tonight and why you picked it.
Homework: Whatever the student's own study plan says.
